31st December Weather & Trek Update: Batches of Chopta, Dayara, and Sandakphu are on Schedule

The weather in the mountains has finally started to take a turn, and snowfall may soon grace several trekking regions. Due to these changing conditions, staying updated on the weather has become extremely important for all trekkers.

To help you prepare better, we have curated this detailed trek update covering the current weather situation and the status of all active trek batches.

India Trek Update - Uttarakhand Treks

Winter Kuari Pass Trek

The weather in Pipalkoti has begun to change, and snowfall is expected soon. Trekkers are advised to be fully prepared for winter conditions. Batch movements are as follows:

  • The 26th December batches are on the final day and will return from Pipalkoti to Rishikesh.
  • The 27th December batches are on day 5 and will move from Tali Forest Camp to Pipalkoti via Gurson Bugyal and Auli.
  • The 28th December batches are on day 4 and will trek from Tali Forest Camp to Kuari Pass and return via Khullara Top.
  • The 29th December batches are on day 3 and will move from Gulling Top to Tali Forest Camp.
  • The 30th December batches are on day 2 and will trek from Pipalkoti to Gulling Top.
  • A new batch started on 31st December and will travel from Rishikesh to Pipalkoti.

Chopta Chandrashila 3-day Trek

Weather conditions in Baniyakund have become colder, with increasing chances of snowfall. Batch update:

  • The 30th December batch is on day 2 and will drive to Chopta and trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila, then return.

Chopta Chandrashila with Deoriatal (5 Days)

The weather in Sari village is slightly cloudy and foggy today, increasing the possibility of snowfall. Batch movements include:

  • The 27th December batch is on the final day and will drive back to Rishikesh.
  • The 28th December batch is on day 4 and will trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila and return.
  • The 29th December batch is on day 3 and will move from Deoriatal to Tala Village and drive to Baniyakund.
  • The 30th December batch is on day 2 and will trek from Sari to Alpine Lake Deoriatal.
  • A new batch began on 31st December and will travel from Rishikesh to Sari Village.

Dayara Bugyal Trek

Weather conditions on the Dayara Bugyal trek have changed, and snowfall is expected soon. Batch updates are:

  • The 27th December batches are on the final day and will move from Nayata to Natin Village and drive to Dehradun.
  • The 28th December batch is on day 4 and will trek from Chilapada to Dayara Top and descend to Nayata.
  • The 29th December batches are on day 3 and will move from Gui to Chilapada.
  • The 30th December batches are on day 2 and will trek from Natin to Gui.

Kedarkantha Trek

Weather conditions in the Kedarkantha region have changed significantly. Batch movements include:

  • The 26th December batches are on the final day and will travel from Sankri to Dehradun.
  • The 27th December batch is on day 5 and will move from Hargaon Camp to Sankri.
  • The 28th December batches are on day 4 and will trek to Kedarkantha Peak and descend to Hargaon Camp.
  • The 29th December batch is on day 3 and will move from Juda-Ka-Talab to Kedarkantha Base.
  • The 30th December batch is on day 2 and will trek from Sankri to Juda-Ka-Talab.

Brahmatal Trek

Weather conditions in the Brahmatal region are currently unclear, with snowfall expected soon. Batch updates:

  • The 26th December batches are on the final day and will depart from Lohajung to Rishikesh.
  • The 27th December batch is on day 5 and will descend from Brahmatal to Lohajung.
  • The 28th December batches are on day 4 and will trek from Tilandi to Brahmatal via Jhandi Top.
  • The 29th December batches are on day 3 and will move from Gujreni to Tilandi.
  • The 30th December batch is on day 2 and will move from Lohajung to Gujreni.


Gulabi Kantha Trek

The weather in the Gulabi Kantha region has turned slightly foggy. Current batch update:

  • The 28th December batch is on day 4 and will trek to Gulabi Kantha Summit and descend to Kandoli Chhani.

North East Treks

Sandakphu Trek

Weather conditions in Sandakphu are no longer clear, with snowfall expected soon. Batch movements are:

  • The 26th December batch is on day 6 and will trek from Aal to Timburey via Sandakphu.
  • The 27th December batch is on day 5 and will move from Thokum to Aal.
  • The 28th December batch is on day 4 and will move from Phalut to Thokum.
  • The 30th December batch is on day 2 and will drive from Sepi to Samanden via Ramam.

Africa Trek Update - Tanzania Trek

Mount Kilimanjaro Trek

The weather in Moshi is clear today. The 26th December batch is on day 6 and will move from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp.
