Your journey begins on the day-3 from Leh to Kargil. You will start your day early, and after having breakfast around 8:00 AM, you will head straight to your conveyance. The distance from Leh to Kargil is approximately 220 Km, which takes around 7 to 8 hours to cover at a comfortable pace.

The route is absolutely incredible with several attractions to enjoy on the way. The bare, arid landscapes of this high-altitude region are unconventionally appealing. The key attractions of this scenic drive include high passes like Fotu La and Namika La. The ancient Alchi Monastery has a deep spiritual significance for the locals.

The lunch break will be held at 1:00 PM and it will also be a relaxed session all along. Another prominent feature of this route is Gurudwara Shri Pathar Sahib, a renowned Sikh shrine that is worth a visit. After reaching Kargil, you’ll be provided accommodation at a hotel. You will reach Tangol village around 1:30 PM and immediately be greeted with a welcome juice. Lunch time is at 2:00 PM and tent distribution will take place around 3:00 PM. You will stay on a twin sharing basis. After relaxing for some time, you can explore this place and enjoy the sightseeing. • Stay: Tents, twin sharing

The day-5 will begin early and you will be provided with a refreshing morning tea. After having breakfast around 6:00 AM, you will be headed to Base Camp as your next destination at 7:00 AM. As you start the trek, the lush valleys ahead of Tongul open into rugged and rocky paths. The green foothills are left behind and you enter a realm that is already known for its bone-dry barren territory. This harsh, high-altitude trail mainly consists of rocks, boulders, and moraine. By navigating through glacial streams and rough terrains, you will witness the Base Camp looming at a distance. You are expected to reach this place at around 2:00 PM and after catching your breath, you’ll go through some cool-down activities. Day-6: Acclimatization Day

Day - 6 is kept as an acclimatization day at the base camp. This is yet another opportunity to recuperate and readjust to the increasing altitude of this expedition. Your day will begin with morning tea at 7:00 AM and just after that equipment Pooja (worship) will be carried out. This is basically done in reverence to all-powerful nature so that the equipment will stay intact even in adverse conditions. After having breakfast at around 8:30 AM, equipment will then be distributed at 9:00 AM. Our experts will teach you how to adjust and properly use these equipment. Just after that, an important session of ice training will be provided to you for around 2 – 3 hours. After finishing this training, lunch will be served at 1:30 PM. After that, you can play indoor games like cards, dumb sharards, or choose to relax as per your own comfort. Tea and snacks at 4:00 PM, and dinner at 7:00 PM.

Day – 7: Base Camp to Camp 1 and back

On the seventh day of this journey, you will wake up early in the morning and serve a hot cup of tea. After having breakfast around 6:00 AM, you will have to get ready for your departure to Camp 1, which is situated at an altitude of 17,800 Ft. So you will begin your hike around 7:00 AM and begin hiking towards Camp 1. After loading your ferry/luggage at Camp 1, you will have to come back again at the Base Camp. Why to do this? Going up and coming down is an important acclimatization step that helps your body gradually yet perfectly adjust to even higher altitudes. This “up and down” strategy is very helpful in terms of sustaining lower oxygen levels at greater heights.

Day – 8: Rest at Base Camp

The day-8 is again reserved for rest at the Base Camp. You will be acclimatized even better to achieve new vigor and fresh energy.

It is important to note here that as weather in the mountains is highly unpredictable, we maintain a flexible schedule to adapt to changing conditions and ensure safety. These days account for load ferries between the camps, acclimatization, and buffer time for bad weather.

Day – 9: Base Camp to Camp 1

This is the ninth day of your expedition and you have to again walk up to Camp 1 to stay there overnight. As usual, you will see the first light with a hot cup of tea at around 6:00 AM. After having breakfast at 7:00 AM, you will be headed to Camp 1. The duration of this hike is approximately 6 to 7 hours with an altitude gain of 3,000 Ft. The route becomes even rougher as you proceed ahead, and eventually, you will reach in the midst of glacier ice terrain. As rocks and snow dominate the landscape, the climate becomes a little bit more challenging. You are expected to reach at 2:30 PM, and then lunch will be served just after. Since most of the terrain is covered by snow, you will be camping on the glacier. The tents will be provided as a triple sharing basis. Dinner time will be at 7:00 PM.

Day – 10: Acclimatization Day and Load Ferry

Just like earlier, day-10 is strategically reserved for acclimatization. You will get up early in the morning, drink your tea, and have breakfast by 7:00 AM. You will begin your hike around 8:00 AM and begin hiking towards Camp 2, which is located at a height of 19,800 Ft. After loading your ferry/luggage at Camp 2, you will have to come back again at Camp 1. This regular acclimatization strategy of going up and down will prove to be vital to adjusting to lower oxygen levels and preventing altitude sickness.

Day – 11: Load Ferry

On day-11, your expedition will take you to Camp 2 for the night stay. As usual, you will wake up early with hot morning tea. Breakfast will be served by 7:00 to 7:30 AM and the departure to the next destination is scheduled around 8:00 AM. The climb from Camp 1 to Camp 2 is a bit strenuous hike with an elevation gain of 2000 feet (600 meters). The ascent may involve more physical exertion but the experience of this journey feels like never before. You will navigate through the glacial landscape along steep ice walls with the help of fixed ropes if needed. The trail offers stunning views of surrounding peaks and snowfields. Almost 85% of your walk is normal, while the last stretch of this trek is an uphill hike, taking 40 to 50 minutes to complete.

Day – 12: Camp 1 to Camp 2

On the 12th day of this journey, you will move to Camp 3. The previous acclimatization days will play an active role here as your body should have properly adjusted to the altitude by now. Without altering the daily routine, you will wake up early and have your breakfast by 7:30 AM. Your journey will begin around 8:00 AM and the climb is a true mountain expedition. Camp 3 is located at an altitude of 21,000 Ft. and the route takes you through thick glacial terrains and icy slopes. You will traverse a large snow plateau and navigate your way through some more icy sections. No matter how difficult the terrain is, safety will follow you everywhere. You will hike through ice and rock patches with the help of Jumar and fixed ropes. After reaching Camp 3, you will stay in warm, insulated tents as a triple sharing basis.

Day – 13: Camp 2 to Camp 3

The 13th day of your journey is that highly awaited summit climb to Nun Peak that you have been looking forward to. Nun Summit is located at a height of 23,410 Ft. and the climb will be more challenging from previous ones, but obviously more rewarding as well. This thrill hike needs technical climbing over steep ice walls and rocky patches. However, you will safely navigate this trail with the help of crampons, fixed ropes and other safety equipment. The climb will start before midnight in order to take advantage of firm snow conditions. On reaching this coveted summit, you will feel victorious and satisfied. After spending some quality time there and watching the sunrise, you will come back to Camp 2.

Day – 14: Summit Climb

Day-14 is reserved for another attempt to Nun Peak in case of adverse weather conditions on the previous day.

Day – 15: Buffer Day

The Day-15 is kept as a buffer day. On high-altitudes with cold, harsh climatic conditions, the weather turns bad very often; that is why buffer days are reserved. Another reason for keeping buffer days is to allow your body enough time to acclimatize properly and effectively. So these days are critical for strategic safety measures.

Day – 16: Camp 2 to Base Camp

Factoring in all the conditions that played out so far, you will retrace your journey on sixteenth day and move from Camp 2 to Base Camp.

Base Camp to Tangol and Drive to Kargil

  • Altitude Tangol: 3,700 m / 12,100 ft
  • Altitude Nun Base Camp: 4,500 m / 14,800 ft
  • Trek Distance: 8–9 km | 5 hrs
  • Stay: Hotel, twin sharing

Similarly on day-17, you will go back from Base Camp to Tangol village. The trek distance is 8 to 9 Km and takes 5 hours to complete. After taking some rest, you will drive to Kargil through the Suru Valley. By witnessing the Nun-Kun massif along this way, you will vividly remember your unforgettable expedition that had just concluded. After reaching Kargil and taking rest, you can explore this place further. Kargil is known for great military significance. But you can also experience some unique glimpses of Buddhist culture here. This place is home to some ancient Buddhist spots like Mulbekh and Rangdum Monasteries. You will spend the night at a hotel in Kargil.

Drive from Kargil to Leh

  • Altitude Leh: 3,500 m / 11,500 ft
  • Altitude Kargil: 2,700 m / 8,900 ft
  • Drive Distance: 220 km | 7–8 hrs
  • Stay: Hotel, twin sharing

On day-18, you will wake up early in the morning after taking a tight and relaxing sleep and drive back to Leh from Kargil. The return journey is stunning with a total distance of 220 Km that takes approximately 7 to 8 hours to complete. The route takes you through breathtaking high-altitude landscapes with passes such as Fotu La and Namika La. The dry, barren, and majestic terrain of this region turns this journey into an epic road trip to say the least. After reaching Leh, you will stay at the same hotel. This is again a nice opportunity to explore Leh and know its culture up and close. You can visit Buddhist monasteries, including Thiksey and Hemis or interact with native people to understand the place better. Not to forget, you can also enjoy the local delicacies like Momos and Thukpa.

Depart from Leh

The day-19 is the final day to bid goodbye to this amazing place that has given you some of the most beautiful moments of your life. You will depart to your respective places from here and the checkout time is 11 A.M . People who came here via flights are needed to learn about the flight timings beforehand if they hadn’t already booked their return tickets. Same applies to trekkers who came through trains. While returning back, this unforgettable expedition will definitely give you intermittent flashes of this great journey.

Extra Buffer Day (No charges)

This day is a buffer day that can be availed during expedition if weather conditions are not suitable to trek. This extra buffer day can be availed without any charge only in the mountains. If not used in mountains then you can use it to explore Leh.

One More Extra Buffer Day (with charges)

The day-21 is reserved as a buffer day yet again that can also be availed during expeditions or for exploring Leh. But this buffer day, however, will be availed with due charges.

We would like to reiterate the fact that weather conditions on high-altitude mountains are extremely unpredictable, so we maintain a flexible schedule to adapt to changing conditions and ensure safety. Choosing the right trek for a beginner can be a bit overwhelming as there are many factors to consider such as distance, elevation gain, terrain difficulty, weather, and time of year. Here are some tips that can help you choose the right trek for a beginner:

1. Determine fitness level: Assess the fitness level of the beginner to understand their physical capabilities. This will help you select a trek that is challenging but not too difficult.

2. Choose a well-traveled trail: A well-traveled trail will have more amenities such as signposts, water stations, and shelter. It is also safer as there will be other hikers on the trail.

3. Consider the length of the trek: For beginners, it is recommended to start with a shorter trek that can be completed in a day or two. This will help them get acclimatized to trekking and build their confidence.

4. Look for gradual elevation gain: Choose a trek with a gradual elevation gain rather than steep ascents. This will make the trek easier and more enjoyable.

5. Check the weather: Check the weather forecast before selecting a trek. Avoid treks during the monsoon season or winter when the trails can be slippery or dangerous.

6. Research the trail: Read about the trail to get an idea of the terrain, altitude, and difficulty level. This will help you select a trek that is suitable for the beginner.

7. Consult with an expert: If you are unsure about which trek to choose, consult our trek expert Mr. Nitin (+91 70600 59773) between 10 AM to 6 PM (Tuesday - Friday). Mr. Nitin will provide you valuable advice and guidance.

Overall, it is important to choose a trek that is enjoyable, challenging but not too difficult, and suitable for the beginner's fitness level and experience.

It is not recommended for a beginner to choose a difficult Himalayan trek. Trekking in the Himalayas can be physically and mentally challenging, especially if you are not used to the high altitude, steep slopes, and rugged terrain. Choosing a difficult trek without the proper experience, fitness level, and preparation can be dangerous and put you at risk of altitude sickness, injury, and other hazards.

If you are a beginner, it is recommended to start with an easier trek and gradually build up your skills and experience. This will help you understand the challenges of trekking in the Himalayas, and also prepare you physically and mentally for a more difficult trek in the future. It is also important to choose a trek that matches your fitness level, experience, and interest.

There is no specific age limit for a beginner trekker. However, it is important to consider your physical fitness, health condition, and personal interests before embarking on a trek. Trekking in the Himalayas can be physically and mentally demanding, and requires a certain level of physical fitness and endurance.

If you have any pre-existing medical conditions or are above a certain age, it is recommended to consult with a doctor before embarking on a trek. It is also important to listen to your body and take breaks as needed during the trek to prevent exhaustion or injury.

We recommend visiting our "Suggest Me a Trek" page. By filling out the form, our experts will contact you with the best possible trek options based on your preferences and experience level. Yes, it is possible to trek with periods. However, it is important to take some extra precautions and preparations to ensure a comfortable and safe trekking experience. Here are some tips that can help you trek during your period:

1. Use menstrual hygiene products that you are comfortable with, such as tampons, pads, or menstrual cups. It is recommended to carry enough supplies for the entire duration of the trek.

2. Pack wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and plastic bags to dispose of used hygiene products.

3. Wear comfortable and breathable clothing that allows for easy movement and reduces friction. Avoid wearing tight or restrictive clothing that can cause discomfort.

4. Carry pain relief medication, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, in case of menstrual cramps.

5. Stay hydrated and maintain a balanced diet to support your energy levels and overall health.

It is also recommended to consult with a doctor before going on a trek during your period, especially if you have a pre-existing medical condition or are taking medication.

By taking necessary precautions and being prepared, you can have a safe and comfortable trekking experience even during your period. We provide proper disposal facilities for sanitary pad disposal during the trek.

Toilet tents provide a convenient solution for answering nature's call in the great outdoors. Dry toilets, in particular, offer a highly sanitary approach. By digging a pit and utilizing mud and a shovel, you can easily cover up your waste. This method ensures cleanliness and hygiene while camping or exploring in the forest.

Remember to pack essential toiletries to complete your outdoor bathroom kit and maintain proper personal hygiene during your adventures. With these practices in place, you can enjoy nature while also respecting it.

Layer Up From Head To Toe
Eat Full Meals, never sleep empty stomach
You can keep warmee (if you’re more susceptible to cold).
Use sleeping bag in right way and don’t leave free space in sleeping bag.

For upper body
– Thermal layer
– T-shirt (full-sleeves)
– Fleece T-shirt (for extreme colds)
– Fleece layer
– Thick Jacket/Down Jacket
– Waterproof or Windproof layer (outermost layer, when it is snowing or raining)
- For Lower Body
– Thermal layer
– Hiking pants (normal) or Winter hiking pants

Based on how warm you feel you can skip any of the above layers. Your outer later should be windproof since it is windy at high altitude.
The idea behind layering is that the more insulation you have the less cold you feel, and instead of wearing a very thick jacket if you wear multiple layers, your body will be better insulated against the cold.

Yes, we provide micro spikes and gaiters, if required.

Mandatory documents: 2 xerox of ID having address (addhar card/driving license), 2 Passport size photographs, hard copy Medical form signed & sealed by doctor, disclaimer form sign by trekker and high altitude insurance.

No one is forced to go on. There is always enough staff to split the party according to need and regroup later at the camp. Most people have no trouble reaching the highest campsite. If some members decide not to climb the final distance they can wait for the climbers to come back down the same way or take a lateral path to the descent route.

Nun Peak Expedition is one of the most difficult journeys into the Himalayas. It requires sound technical skills and exceptional physical fitness to complete this expedition. Additionally, it is often influenced by unpredictable weather conditions, including sudden storms, extreme cold and strong winds. It is recommended to hire a skilled guide or avail expedition service of expert trekking companies.

No, you generally can’t. With an altitude of 7,135 meters like this, it’s next to impossible to climb a peak without prior climbing experience. Your body needs to adjust to these harsh conditions beforehand, and you also need some skills with ice axes, ropes, and acclimatization. It would be better to complete easier expeditions of 3000 M to 5000 M range first, and then go for Nun Peak.

It takes around 19 to 22 days to complete the Nun Peak Expedition. If the weather is favorable throughout the expedition then it takes 19 days; else, a few buffer days are included in the itinerary to compensate for the bad weather.

Nun Peak is located at a towering altitude of 7135 meters (23,409 Ft.) near Suru Valley in the Zanskar Range of Kargil district, Ladakh, India. It is one of the most popular and very challenging destinations for experienced mountaineers.

Although Nun Peak is located in a faraway and challenging terrain, this barren land offers a few panoramic vistas as well. You can visit lush meadows of Suru Valley, spectacular Drang Drung Glacier, Zanskar Valley with stunning high passes, Rangdum Monastery, Alchi Monastery, and unique traditional Ladakhi villages.

For the Nun Peak expedition, you need specialized equipment that is extremely vital for such towering peaks. The technical safety hardware includes helmet, ice axe, ropes, crampons, carabiners, ascenders, and harness, etc. The personal gear includes warm clothing (layering essentials), high-ankle trekking boots, headgear, backpack, trekking poles, headlamp, water bottle, thermos, first aid kit, and navigation device among others.

The best time to embark on Nun Peak expedition is during summer months, especially from May to September. From the weather point of view, these months remain largely stable, skies are clear, and snow is manageable with less unpredictable high-altitude storms. The route is relatively more accessible as compared to other months.

Nun Peak climb is not a regular/normal expedition; it requires great physical endurance, profound mental resilience, acclimatization techniques, and excellent climbing skills. Having said that, you can also prepare for this expedition well before planning it. For increased physical fitness, you need to practice running, cycling, swimming, squats, lunges, and stair climbing. For mental endurance, Yoga, breathing exercises, meditation, and a positive mindset will be extremely helpful. You also have to focus on enhancing your technical skills in order to make the climb manageable. So, try practicing knots, rope handling and wearing crampons and microspikes at home. Go on high-altitude treks for acclimatization so that your body adapts for such conditions. Last but not the least, inculcate a habit of drinking water constantly and eat high-energy, nutritious food.

There is no immediate medical facility in and around the Nun Peak area. So it is highly pertinent for you to be fully prepared for any emergency situations. You should be ready for your medical emergency kit and equipment with proper working conditions. Tread carefully on the routes and always take help from expert guides when need arises. For such expeditions, you should choose trekking companies that consider safety and comfort above everything else.

To reach the base camp of Nun Peak, you have to first arrive at Leh City via air, rail, or road. You can catch a flight to Leh from major cities of India that land at Kushok Bakula Rimpochi Airport, which is 4 Km from the main city. Then book a taxi or cab to the city or straight to Tangol, which is the base camp of Nun Peak. Another way to reach Leh is catching a train to Jammu Tawi and then booking a taxi/cab to Leh; and then to Tangol. If you are coming through the road, you can catch a bus or hire a taxi and follow the same route to Tangol.
