January 2nd, 2026 - Trek & Weather Update: Kedarkantha & Kuari Pass has Finally Experienced a Little Snowfall

The weather has shifted again in the mountains, and the sky has cleared again. So, it looks like you have to wait a little longer to experience the snowfall. This sudden change in weather is the reason why it is very important for all the trekkers to be informed from time to time.

Hence, we have curated this weather update to make your journey easier. This update provides a comprehensive overview of the current status of all treks and batches.

India Trek Update - Uttarakhand Treks

Winter Kuari Pass Trek

Today, the weather in Pipalkoti has changed again, and little snowfall has finally arrived in the Kuari Pass and trekkers can start preparing themselves to experience the snowy weather. Apart from that, new winter treks have started—

• The two batches of 28th December are on the last day of their schedule, and today they will return from Pipalkoti to Rishikesh.
• The two batches of 29th December are on their day 5 schedule of the trek, and today they will move from Tali forest camp to Pipalkoti via Gurson Bugyal and Auli.
• The two batches of 30th December are on their day 4 schedule of the trek, and today they will move from Tali Forest Camp to Kuari Pass and back via Khullara Top.
• The 31st December batch is on their day 3 schedule, and today they will leave from Gulling Top to Tali Forest Camp.
• The 1st January batch is on their day 2 schedule, and today they will move from Pipalkoti to Gulling Top.
• A new trek of the winter Kuari Pass began on 2nd January 2026, and today they will move from Rishikesh to Pipalkoti.

Chopta Chandrashila 3-day Trek

Similarly, the weather in Baniyakund has also become clear again. As for the batch update—

• The 1st January, 3-day Chopta batch is on the 2nd day of their schedule, and today they will move from Baniyakund to Chopta (drive) and trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila, and return.

Chopta Chandrashila with Deoriatal (5 Days)

The weather in Sari, on the Chopta Chandrashila Trek, is all bright and clear for now. As for the batch update -

• The 29th December Chopta batch is on the last day of their schedule, and today they will drive back to Rishikesh.
• The 30th December Chopta batch is on their day 4 schedule, and today they will move from Baniyakund to Chopta (drive) and trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila and Return.
• The 31st December Chopta batch is on their day 3 schedule, and today they will move from Deoria Tal to Tala Village and drive to Baniyakund.

Dayara Bugyal Trek

The weather on the Dayara Bugyal trek has changed today, and the sky has become clear again. As for the batch update -

• The two batches of 29th December are on the last day of their schedule, and today they will move from Nayata to Natin Village and drive to Dehradun.
• The two batches of 30th December are on their day 4 schedule, and today they will move from Chilapada to Dayara Top and Trek to Nayata.

Kedarkantha Trek

The current weather in the Kedarkantha Trek region has changed once again, and today, little snowfall has graced the base camp of Kedarkantha.

Meaning that trekkers can brace themself to experience snow in the upcoming days. Regarding the batches—

• The two batches from 28th December are on their last day of the schedule, and today they will depart from Sankri for Dehradun.
• The 29th December batch is on the day 5 schedule of their trek, and today they will move from Hargoan Camp to Sankri.
• The 30th December batch is on day 4 of their trek, and today they will move from Kedarkatha Base to Kedarkantha peak, descend to Hargaon Camp.
• The 1st January batch is on their day 2 schedule, and today they will move from Sankri to Juda-Ka-Talab.
• A new batch of Kedarkantha has begun on 2nd January 2026, and today they will arrive at Sankri.

Brahmatal Trek

The current weather in the Brahmatal Trek region is clear for now, and the chance of snowfall happening soon has decreased. As for the batch update—

• The two batches of 28th December are on the last day of their schedule, and today they will leave from Lohajung for Rishikesh.
• The two batches of 29th December are on the day 5 schedule of their trek, and today they will move from Brahamatal to Lohajung.
• The 30th December batch is on their day 4 schedule, and today they will move from Tilandi to Brahmatal via Jhandi Top and Brahmatal Summit.

Gulabi Kantha Trek

The current weather in the Gulabi Kantha Trek region has cleared, and it’s a really good day to enjoy the trail of the trek. As for the trek currently, there is no ongoing trek of Gulabi Kantha.

North East Treks

Sandakphu Trek

The current weather in the Sandakphu Trek is clear for now. As for the batch update—

• The 27th of December batch is on the last day of their trek, and today they will move from Timburey to Srikhola and drive to NJP.
• The 28th of December batch is on day 6 of their trek, and today they will move from Aal to Timburey via Sandakphu.
• The 30th December batch is on day 4 of their trek, and today they will move from Phalut to Thokum.

Mount Kilimanjaro Trek

• The 26th December batch of Mount Kilimanjaro Peak is on their day 8 schedule, and today they will move from Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate and drive to Moshi.
