Uttarakhand just got a whole lot more exciting for trekkers!

In a momentous step forward, ‘Trek The Himalayas’ has collaborated with the ‘Government of Uttarakhand’ to develop and promote 100 trekking and hiking trails across the state.

The “GPS Mapping & Technical Survey of 100 Hikes & Treks” project was officially flagged off today (18th September) around 9:30 AM by the Honourable Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, at the official residence of Chief Minister, in the presence of the Honourable Tourism Secretary, Shri Dheeraj Singh Gabaryal.

On behalf of Trek The Himalayas, our founders, Mr Rakesh Pant and Mr Sandeep Rawat were present alongside the dedicated execution team including trek leaders, writers, app developers, photographers, GIS/GPS experts and members of the leadership team, who will contribute to bringing this ambitious initiative to life.

Under the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB), the project will map, survey, document, and digitally develop 100 hiking and trekking routes across the Garhwal and Kumaon regions of Uttarakhand.

Through this project, the government’s primary aim is to bring greater recognition to Uttarakhand’s diverse trekking trail, while creating better opportunities for sustainable tourism, local employment and paving a way for cultural preservation.

As part of the project, an offline/online trekking navigation map will be developed to help trekkers navigate trails, understand routes, and access essential information even in areas with limited connectivity. This initiative will also support the identification and promotion of certified local guides and homestays, helping trekkers experience the region more meaningfully while contributing directly to local communities.

This collaboration marks a significant step towards making Uttarakhand's trekking and hiking destinations more accessible, organised, and community-driven.
