This trek is among our favourites for many reasons.  The trail, adorned with a diverse array of landscapes, meanders through dense forests, alpine meadows, and rocky terrains, offering a symphony of experiences that delight the senses and challenge the spirit. 

Picture yourself standing in the shadow of the mighty Kanchenjunga, the third-highest peak in the world, with its snow-clad crown glistening in the sun. The Journey To The Goechala Pass

The journey to Goechala begins in the charming town of Yuksom. Yuksom is a place where history comes alive, and nature unfolds its mesmerizing beauty. Did you know this town was once the capital of the kingdom of Sikkim.  was here, in 1642, that the first Chogyal (monarch) of Sikkim was anointed by three revered lamas, marking the establishment of Sikkim as a kingdom. Yuksom stands as a testament to Sikkim's rich history and cultural heritage, offering a gateway to breathtaking landscapes and a tranquil retreat for the soul. 

Leaving Yuksom behind, the  initial part of the trek winds through quaint villages, each with its own stories to tell and traditions to share. The path leads through rhododendron-filled forests, where dappled sunlight filters through the leaves, creating a magical ambiance that feels straight out of a fairytale.

Onwards you move to Dzongri with its epic sunset views. Thangshing and Lamuney are two beautiful campsites enroute the pass. As you make your way through the trail, you will encounter Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Mt. Pandim (6,691 m), the Three Sisters, and even Mt. Everest (8,849 m) in the distance, each one exuding its unique charm and the serene lake Samiti waits as a hidden charm.
