Isnt it great if the riveting Himalayas are accounted in merely 2 days? Isnt it wonderful to witness Indias highest peak without going higher? Of course, it is a lucky opportunity for all the mountain lovers to witness yet another, a fascinating trek of 2 days Deoban trek. The essence of a weekend trek is that in less time and less effort one gets to encounter the entire splendidness of the Himalayas. The Deoban trek is a winner in that aspect. From 3000 meters Deoban shows 55 big peaks including Nanda Devi, Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch and the list is really big. The trek begins from Chakarta, an epic tourist place of British time. This less popular star still holds some of the architecture of Britishers.

The name Deoban means dense forests of Deodhar, therefore, no doubt the trail is flourished with Deodhar trees. Not only that, being the beauty of Uttarakhand mountains, a mix of Pine, Oak trees can also be seen. The camping sites are flawlessly blessed with amazing meadows. Surprisingly, in winters the trail is covered with snow. Therefore, making it a thrilling winter trek. Due to thick forest cover, it nurtures various species of birds including, babblers, thrushers etc.

The green cover magically rises into Deoban which is magnificent Coliseum showing the grandeur of huge peaks of  Nanda Devi(7816 meters), Hardeol(7151 meters), Trishul(7120 meters), Chaukhamba(7138 meters), Kedarnath(6940 meters), Dunagiri(7066 meters), Kedardome(6831 meters),  Kalanag(6373 meters), Bandarpunch(6102 meters), Srikantha(6133 meters), Swargarohini Massif( 6252 meters), Kirti Stambh(6270 meters), Nanda Ghunti(6309 meters), Sumeru Parvat(6351 meters) and you should visit and spot the rest!

e pickup point is Dehradun railway station. Get on your vehicles that will take you on an elaborate mountain ride. The road passes through Chakarta, a famous hill station. It was a cantonment area of Britishers. It is not as popular as Nainital, though it is as beautiful. You can spot the heavily gushing waterfalls on the route.
You will arrive at your base village, Lokhandi in 4 hours. It is a scenic, peaceful village. The hiking begins with a small warm-up walk on road then goes into dense forests. The forests are filled with Deodhar, pine, oak and all types of coniferous trees. As you walk more, you go deeper into the forest. In winters this section gets covered under the blanket of snow, far away from sunlight.
As you reach towards the end of the trail, it gets steeper. The route rises and suddenly ends up at a clearing of Saraswati campsite. The serene resting place shows some glimpses of peaks you would see tomorrow. After satisfying your stomach, rest in your tents.

Since today will be the summit day and also the day to return, it will be long. Wake up early, have breakfast and get ready to leave at 5 am. There is no water source, therefore, make sure you carry enough water. The initial section of the trail is steep which reduces gradient slowly.
From dense forests, you will step into light forests to clear opening of grounds. Watch out for majestic peaks of Greater Himalayan range will start coming into visibility. By this time the morning sunlight blossoms and shines perfectly on these mountains. Be all ready to capture the glittering mountains.
After around 5-6 km you will find yourself on the highest point called Vyas Shikhar. This is an amphitheatre of grand peaks. At this site, you can find a stone 'Views of the Himalayas from Vyas Shikhar' engraved with the directions to the major summits spotted from here. Get engrossed in the tallest peaks, Nanda Devi(7816 meters), Hardeol(7151 meters), Trishul(7120 meters), Chaukhamba(7138 meters), Kedarnath(6940 meters), Dunagiri(7066 meters), Kedardome(6831 meters),  Kalanag(6373 meters), Bandarpunch(6102 meters), Srikantha(6133 meters), Swargarohini Massif( 6252 meters), Kirti Stambh(6270 meters), Nanda Ghunti(6309 meters), Sumeru Parvat(6351 meters) and many more!

If by a rare consequence TTH calls off/cancels a trek:

At TTH, we almost never call off or cancel our treks. But in the rare event that we do call off or cancel a trek due to any unforeseen circumstances or natural catastrophes like continuous rain or snow, thunderstorms, snowstorms, landslides, floods, earthquakes, or any other natural calamity that prevents us from carrying out a trek in a safe manner, unforeseeable circumstances like local riots, curfews, pandemics, lockdowns, government orders, or any such situations that prevents a safe trekking experience, TTH will issue a voucher summing up to the same amount as your trek fee. The voucher can be redeemed on any of the treks over a period of the next year.

  • The voucher is also not issued if for any reason you have to come down from the trek. The trek leader may send you down from the trek, owing to reasons like lack of fitness, AMS, blood pressure, turn-around-time, health issues, or if you are found smoking/ drinking, or breaking the rules of the trek. Vouchers are issued only when the whole trek is cancelled or called off on behalf of TTH.

In the rare event that TTH shifts a trek:

As we mention always, weather conditions at high altitudes are extremely unpredictable and can change at any time of any day. Also, situations like natural calamities or political unrest, pandemics and lockdowns, etc are out of our control and if an event cannot run under any such circumstances that we do not directly have control over then we will try to give you an alternative trek, which means your trek will be shifted from one trek to another, which will be safer and more favourable.

In these cases, a voucher is issued to mitigate the difference in cost between the two treks. You can redeem the voucher at any time over a period of one year from the date of issue. A refund fee or refund of the difference is not applicable.

  • Change of trek batch is dependent on the availability of seats in the batch
  • In case of transferring a trek to a friend, he/she should satisfy all the mandatory requirements put forward by TTH
  • TTH holds the right to change/cancel the policies, without prior notice
  • Cash refund is applicable only in case of bookings made without using any promotional offer code or vouchers

Cash Voucher Terms:

  • This is a non-transferable voucher
  • The voucher cannot be merged with any other offer of Trek The Himalayas
