After our first batch of Valley of flowers in August, there has been a lot of enthusiasm. Despite all the reservations, COVID19 travelling and hiking we are getting a flood of queries of trekkers wanting to trek again. So, it is not news, we are reminding all of you that we have started taking registrations from October. While we are still waiting for Government to release inter-state travel guidelines, we are super-pumped for the Winter season. 

Winter has always been a sign of epic adventure, the mountains after lockdown are all set to invigorate us to boost our spirits. The cold-walks starting from October stretch up to the summer in March. As you might know, we carried the Valley of Flowers trek last month with proper safety. All of our trekkers or team members returned home safely with an abundance of trekking memories. We promise to carry out all the forthcoming hikes likewise. Before you start wondering which trek to hop on for Winter 2020, we have listed a few treks you must try post lockdown


Kedarkantha Peak Trek

The king of winters trek, the most popular winter trek so far. The frozen Juda Ka Talab camping is the most sought after the campsite, literally coming from a dream. Every year this trek gets booked 1-2 years in advance. For all of you who had planned Kedarkantha in 2020, there is still hope. We are sure as soon as we announce its opening the batches are going to get full in no time. So, don’t waste any time wondering, register for Kedarkantha soon!

Brahmatal Trek

If it’s about frozen lakes then Brahmatal can never be missed. Spanning of 6 days with just 22 km hiking you can imagine the luxury of witnessing the pristine snow land for fewer efforts. With peaks as high as 7000 meters waiting for you to take pictures, the Brahmatal trek definitely must not be missed this year. So, register now!

Dayara Bugyal Trek

The all-rounder trek that will soon be a winner of “best trek” of every season. Imagine the lush meadows that touch the far end mountains covered with the white snow sparkling under the light of fluorescent sunrays. If you have been to Dayara in another season – winter is a must. Only to experience the thrill of being in the unknown of the known place.

Sandakphu Trek

The only flag bearer of West Bengal but that shows the highest peaks in the world. So what if you cannot trek to Everest in winter, watch its glory from Sandakphu trek.

Chopta Chandrashila Trek

Yet another all-rounder trek that is a great start for beginners in all the seasons. Having a spiritual significance the trek is already a famous pilgrimage spot. The appealing Chaukhamba reflection in Deoriatal lake is what attracts most of the hikers. Additionally, there is the adventure of trudging through hard snow up to the Chandrashila top. It is like the perfect tower to capture panoramas of distant pinnacles.
Being closed for so long for the first time, Chopta Chandrashila trek is fresh and intricate as a new blossom. Come and be the first one to watch Chopta trek grow into a flower.

Winter Kuari Pass Trek

The experience of walking to the apex is life-altering. Walking through glaciers, tiny frozen streams and knee-deep powdered snow, the trek means uniqueness.  The kuari meadows is surely nerve-wracking but it challenges you more than anything. Those monotonous home-workout routines in the lockdown are asking for a payout. Kuari pass top is what the hard work deserves.

Chadar (Frozen River) Trek

This trek needs no introduction. After frozen lakes, comes the frozen river and waterfall. Amidst the news of Chadar being closed forever and the pandemic lockdown, Chadar comes with a fresh start. The freezing -30 degrees of Zanskar range is calling you out to come out of the enclosed walls of your house. It is now time to walk over the frozen Zanskar. Now that you have selected your favorite trek, it is time to know the COVID19 precautions we all must follow.

Our Guidelines to keep treks safe from Corona

It is now our responsibility to get back the routine of trekking while keeping ourselves safe. We expect full coordination from you all to make trekking Corona-proof. We have decided our guidelines and we promise to follow them. We shall also keep them modifying as per the future dynamics.

Things to carry for trekkers

  1. Trekkers should be carrying e-pass, medical certificate + COVID19 Test Report when they come for the trek. 
  2. Trekkers must carry sufficient amount of sanitizer, masks, gloves, and a personal medical kit for the respective days of the trek.
  3. Apart from the above, trekkers must make sure they carry all the Trek Essentials. Remember no sharing will be allowed. Trekkers will be responsible for disposable of their own items. 

Medical Condition of our Staff  

  1. We shall make sure that every person of our team you interact with is Medically checked and healthy. 
  2. All our staff including porters and local guides will undergo thorough training and screening for the treks.

Examination at the Pickup Point

Every trekker’s temperature and symptoms will be examined by our attendant.The medical certificate will be checked there itself with social distancing.Sanitization of every trekker and their belongings will be done.Our Pickup vehicles for trekkers will be with half seating.There shall be plastic separators between seats in the transport vehicle for more safety.

Precautions from Pickup point to the Base Village

Restaurant or Dhabas will be properly sanitized by the restaurant owner.No gathering of trekkers in the restaurant will be allowed.The table will have 2 chairs.Food will be served in Use and Throw Utensils.Trekkers should make sure they dispose of their utensils after they finish their food. 

Precautions at the Base Camp

  1. On arriving at the base camp trekkers and their belongings will be sanitized again.
  2. Accommodation: Twin bedroom sharing with separate beds will be provided 

Precautions while trekking and until the drop point

  1. We shall do proper sanitization of all the equipment after every batch.
  2. We will also provide training to the locals and our team about the necessary measures to be taken.
  3. Kitchen staff will take care of the hygiene in Kitchen.  
  4. Toilets/toilet tents and guestrooms will be sanitized daily.
  5. One trekker in one tent.
  6. Trek leader will provide immunity-boosting exercises.  
  7. The whole batch will be walking 1-2 meters distance between themselves.
  8. During steep and slippery sections our local guide shall assist by keeping a safe distance.
  9. Campsite games will be played with Social Distancing.
  10. There will not be a common garbage bin at the campsites. Trekkers must be responsible for their waste disposal.  
  11. Hotel, rooms, utensils, vehicles will be sanitized regularly.
  12. The same system followed during pickup will be followed for drop-down.
  13. Once the trek is over the trekkers shall follow the measures taken earlier until they safely reach their homes. 

Immediate Response in case of symptoms

With all the thorough safety rules above, there will be no chance of Corona penetrating. However, we all must be prepared for the unexpected. 

  1. During any time if anybody shows Corona symptoms they shall be immediately transported to the nearest Hospitals following all the Social Distancing norms.
  2. We shall make sure that the entire batch gets tested for Corona before they leave.
  3. It is trekker’s responsibility to inform us about any discomfort or signs of Corona.

Other precautions

  1. We might stop renting of equipment based on the number of requests for the rental.
  2. The number of trekkers in a batch may be reduced.
  3. Any trekker failing to abide any of the safety rules will not be allowed to continue.
  4. Trekkers should follow hygiene while the travel to-from the pickup point.

Trekking with COVID19

Living with Corona is the new normal. We must learn to take care of ourselves. It is our responsibility to keep ourselves and our Nation safe from Corona. While doing that we must follow our dreams too.

Notes: Please keep in mind that we shall change our policies and procedures based on Government regulations in future. As you know, there can be last-minute announcements and we will have to follow them. However, we shall try to abide by the Government rules keeping in mind the welfare of our trekkers.
